A Devotional Reading of Hebrews
As my Church begins a yearlong study of the Book of Hebrews in our Sunday School classes, I wanted to endeavor on something a bit different. Below is a devotional reading of Hebrews 1:1-2a. I will present some thoughts around the text as well as some accompanying texts- but it is up to you to go and read each text. Use this post as a guide and be encouraged.
Read Hebrews 1:1-2a
How does God Speak?
At times, He spoke Audibly- Read Exodus 3:1-6
At times, He spoke physically- Read Judges 6:34-40
At times, He spoke through Prophets- Read Jeremiah 1:1-5
At times, He speaks through Creation- Read Psalm 19:1-4
And at all times, He speaks through Scripture- Read 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Reflection Questions:
Is there a time God spoke to you in such a way you will never forget?
Are there times you reflect back on and realize God has been teaching you in less obvious ways?
Are there times you are driven to His Word?
How often does God’s creation cause you to worship?
Parting Prayer:
Lord thank you for Your Word. Thank you for creation and the joy and sorry therein. A refining fire still burns, and yet our souls are blessed and strengthened through this refining. Help us to hear Your voice, see Your work, and Know You more each day. Amen
